Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) questions the “Guide for emergency preparedness and correct action in emergency situations” from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance.

"In this respect, I will discuss with my office again whether it is wise to publish such lists," said Faeser in the SPIEGEL top-level discussion with moderator Markus Feldenkirchen.

"We're at war in the middle of Europe," said Faeser.

Therefore, it would be responsible not to speak about these things in the forefront.

People lived "in uncertainty" these days.

The Federal Office for Civil Protection is a subordinate authority of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

The brochure in question advises hoarding 20 liters of water and 2.5 kilos of fruit or nuts per person in order to be able to get by for ten days without supplies.

There are also checklists for the medicine cabinet, hygiene items and alternatives in the event of a power failure.

Faeser emphasized that it was not about their recommendation that was issued there.

At the same time, she said it was the agency's job to provide guidance on the issue of stocks.

"You don't have to stick to it meticulously," says Faeser.

During the conversation, Faeser announced that he wanted to improve the situation for Russian journalists living in Germany.

“For that we have to change legislation.

That's our turn."

She is in discussion with Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) on the subject.

They are working on a »skilled labor immigration law that will make this immigration easier«.

Coordination with the traffic light parties is currently taking place.

Faeser announced an improvement for the coming weeks.

A tourist visa or an application for asylum are not sufficient.

“You can also do that with a recording program.

That'll definitely be quicker.« She refers to paragraph 22 of the Residence Act.

It stipulates that foreigners can be granted a residence permit for »international law or urgent humanitarian reasons«.

No determination of the top candidacy 2023 in Hesse

Faeser left open whether she will run as the top candidate for the SPD in the state elections in Hesse in autumn 2023.

“This decision is not pending.

That's why I don't have to worry about it," said Faeser.

Her position as Minister of the Interior makes her very happy because she has worked as an interior politician at the state level in Hesse for the past 15 years.
