The fire broke out in a unit on the 14th floor of Xiaokui Building. It is reported that there is a family of four living on the site, including a couple and two daughters. Recently, the male head of the household was unable to return to Hong Kong from work in the Mainland. At the time of the incident, the female had returned to school. Therefore, only the female head of the household and the 15-year-old eldest daughter were in the unit. The female head’s bedroom suddenly caught fire and the fire was raging. At that time, the eldest daughter was sleeping soundly in another room and was awakened by the noise of the residents outside the corridor. When a fire broke out, she immediately looked for her mother, and later found that the other party had left the unit.
After police investigation, the 47-year-old female head of the household was arrested for arson.
