Ferrari driver Sainz takes pole position at Silverstone

Secures pole for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone: Carlos Sainz in action.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz has sped to pole position for the British Grand Prix in the rain at Silverstone.

Silverstone – The Spaniard, somewhat surprisingly, relegated Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen to second place in the Red Bull in the exciting qualifying session on Saturday.

Third was Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari.

For Sainz it is the first pole position of his career.

Sebastian Vettel in 18th place in the Aston Martin and Haas driver Mick Schumacher in 19th place had already been eliminated in the first lap of the starting place hunt.
