The first case of a county citizen infected with monkeypox was confirmed on Wednesday, June 29.
"It is a middle-aged male," said the FFB health department.
It is unclear where the person concerned was infected.
His close contacts were identified and appropriate measures initiated.
Monkeypox , which has been registered in various countries outside of Africa
since May 2022
, is usually only transmitted from person to person through close contact.
According to the current state of knowledge, transmission via droplets in the respiratory tract is only possible in the case of direct close contact ("face to face"), transmission via aerosols is unlikely.
"Monkeypox is not usually considered to be very contagious because it requires close physical contact with someone who is contagious, such as a person.
B.
Skin to skin
,
prolonged face-to-face contact
," explains the health department.
Those affected are usually
contagious
for up to around three weeks
as long as they have symptoms such as
fever, headache, muscle and back pain and swollen lymph nodes
.
After the fever there are
spots
and
pustules
, which crust over time and fall off.
"The risk to the health of the general population in the district is currently considered to be low," emphasizes the FFB health department.
