Teaming up to highlight the winning values of fishing to be able to nominate it on the Unesco list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Work is being carried out on the drafting of the dossier which will first of all have to be evaluated by the Italian national Unesco commission in the autumn, as the first step of the long process.
Presented last May to the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, the 'Cultural Heritage of Fisheries' (PCP) project is promoted by the Italian Flags, the Fishery Local Action Group, public-private partnerships that act for the development of coastal areas within the Fund European Union for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
There are many winning cards to play, in fact the focus is on tourism through the enhancement of places, crafts and products of fishing and aquaculture.

To date, the dossier focuses on traditional fishing with artisanal gear in shallow waters as an intangible cultural heritage, and includes sustainability (the use of human physical strength and the use of selective fishing gear prevails), an important safeguard to combat some phenomena generated by climate change.
The role of Mipaaf in the process of examining the proposals that it invited to narrow the field of investigation is decisive because the candidates already in place or registered are all very specific, exclusive, homogeneous and well identified.
Italy has the overwhelming majority of registered denominations compared to all other countries and future candidates will also be evaluated on the basis of this data.
