Gender equality is very important in the new city council. The new rules of procedure are to be formulated in a gender-compliant manner, and the statutes of the advisory boards are also being successively adapted.

Fürstenfeldbruck - Actually, there were other issues at stake when the statutes of the sports council were discussed on Tuesday in the city council. Because only people who also live in Fürstenfeldbruck are allowed to apply for the Sports Advisory Board. But the members from the different clubs often come from other places - but they are involved in the club and would also like to get involved in the advisory board. So far, however, this has not been possible - a problem that the Economic Advisory Board also has. This is now being changed.

The members of the Sports Advisory Board receive an allowance of 100 euros a year. As in the other advisory boards, the chairman receives another 50 euros. This was largely agreed in the city council.

In addition to expanding the potential membership to include non-Fürstenfeldbruckers, the articles of association of the Sports Advisory Board will be changed in a further point. The current term of office of the committee will be extended until the end of the year. This is to facilitate a proper new election, which would have been scheduled at the beginning of the current term of the city council. An extension of the term of office was also decided for the Environmental Advisory Board. However, both bodies should be re-elected earlier if possible. The application deadline for the environmental advisory board, which three previous members have left, is scheduled to begin in July. Among them is Markus Britzelmair, who, according to the statutes, may no longer belong to the body after his election to the city council.

Changes to the statutes are to be decided in autumn

Then the gender debate began. Hermine Kusch complained that the articles of association were still not formulated accordingly. Mayor Erich Raff informed that the statutes of all advisory boards and the rules of procedure should be adopted in September in a gender-compliant variant. Andreas Lohde (CSU) suggested that the proportion of women should be included in the statutes as a target wording in order to take gender distribution into account in the future appointment to the Advisory Board. Alexa Zierl (ÖDP) added that the composition of the rules of procedure was as balanced as possible. "This also applies to advisory boards."

Raff had a problem with this: If two women would apply from among ten people, you would have to choose them in. "I find that difficult from the understanding of democracy." Jan Halbauer (Greens) did not see it that closely. "There are always women for positions." Christian Götz (BBV) suggested that a percentage distribution of women and men be taken into account when applying. If a third of the applicants are women, they should also be a third on the advisory board. One could choose gender separated.

Advisory board appointments not in the meeting calendar

Mirko Pötszch (SPD) suggested that the meeting dates of the advisory boards be included in the meeting calendar. "Is there a requirement for how often an advisory board should meet?" Head of Office Roland Klehr explained that the advisory boards would determine how often they meet. He advised against an entry in the calendar. The advisory councils had their own page on the city's homepage, which they could fill with content. Raff offered to publish the dates of the meetings on the homepage.

Georg Tscharke, chairman of the environmental advisory board, reported that, according to the statutes, his committee must hold at least three meetings a year. Raff said that the statutes were being adapted, and that this should be done in the autumn - and then at the latest the gender debate will move on to the next round.

Comment from Ingrid Zeilinger:

The gender debate is currently taking place everywhere. Citizens, Advisory Boards. It is good if women want to participate and fight for their rights. And it is good to give them this opportunity in statutes and regulations.

But you can overdo it. It is certainly nice when an advisory board is not just made up of men. But unfortunately there are often too few applications from the female side. Whether it is due to the lack of prospects, then to be elected, or the lack of time or lack of interest, remains to be seen.

When appointing to the advisory boards, it is not only the gender that is decisive, but sometimes also the professional qualifications. It would therefore be fatal to reserve a fixed number of places for women on the committee. The idea of percentages could be a reasonable middle ground. Perhaps then the number of women who want to get involved will increase. Maybe not. It could help more to advertise more consciously.
