An Austrian couple of police officers overpowered a passenger on their vacation flight from Frankfurt to Vancouver.
As announced by the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna, the passenger had made threats two hours after take-off last Wednesday and thus endangered security on board.
The ministry did not want to give details about the man because of the jurisdiction of the Canadian authorities.
Austria's Minister of the Interior, Gerhard Karner, showed his pride: »Every passenger who disrupts operations can seriously endanger the safety of a flight.
I am proud of our two servants - their intervention was brave, intelligent and courageous. "
According to the ministry, the policewoman and the policeman made discreet contact with the pilot and the crew of the aircraft before stepping in and tying the man with cable ties.
The Austrian patrol officers guarded the passenger for hours until he landed in Canada, where he was handed over to the authorities - and the couple began their vacation.
