The Munich travel company Flixmobility wants to expand to Brazil with its long-distance bus brand Flixbus.

"The country will open its long-distance bus market to competition," announced the company.

"FlixMobility is the first international long-distance bus operator to launch its green long-distance buses in Brazil." Market entry should be completed by the end of the year.

The platform only expanded its European network in mid-April and has since been offering long-distance bus travel in Sweden as well.

In Germany, Flixbus has established itself as the largest provider since the long-distance bus market opened in 2013.

In the Corona crisis, the company had to completely stop trips twice.

In March, Flixbus started its offer again.

In the meantime, around 75 percent of all destinations within Germany can be reached again, the company said.

That corresponds to around 270 holdings.

Flixbus is now serving around half of all destinations across Europe.
