At least 17 people were killed today as a result of the floods that swept Parwan province, eastern Afghanistan.

"Floods caused by heavy rains have killed 13 people in Shinwari and four others in neighboring Syagurd district," said Mala Khan Muhammad, director of the Shinwari district, noting that the final death toll and the extent of the damage caused by the floods has not yet been determined, Xinhua reported.

And led to the floods and monsoon rains in Afghanistan during the past months, killing more than 200 people and injuring dozens of others.
