The state of Florida on Friday approved a bill to issue a new license plate that reads: "Florida Stands With Israel."

The Israeli-American community organization will lead the competition to select the final design of the plaque, which is expected to open soon.

Florida Gov. Ron de Santis signed a bill approving the new license plate with the pro-Israel verbal wording on New Year's Eve.

The proposal won bipartisan support and was unanimously approved in the House of Representatives in the state of Leon County, Florida, and the state capital, Tallahassee.

The Israeli-American Community Organization (IAC) complimented de Santis on "the expression of this heartwarming solidarity that expresses the strong bond between the citizens of the State of Florida and the State of Israel."

How will this actually work?

The decision regarding the design of the special license plate will be made after 30 days of competition during which the general public can submit proposed designs of their choice and preferences.

Following the approval of the Florida Department of Transportation, IAC will lead a community marketing campaign along with a joint sponsorship of IAC for Action and local community partners.

And that's not all: some of the proceeds from the selected plaques will be donated to a local association (where community paramedics work) in order to reduce possible road accidents.

According to Sean Even-Haim, a member of the board of directors of the Israel-American Community Organization IAC and chairman of IAC for Action: "This kind of warmth is why Florida has always been one of the favorite states of the Israeli-American community. This gesture is an expression of a close and lasting relationship. Florida and Israel have ties in many areas including mutual trade relations, shared values, and leading leadership in groundbreaking areas that affect the quality of life of all their citizens.

"Florida has led the fight against hatred and discrimination against Jews over the years, including through the enactment of revolutionary anti-BDS laws. We welcome and appreciate this important expression of solidarity and rejoice that the Israeli-American community can take part and support these efforts. Thank you, Governor De- "Santis and the Florida State Legislature," Even-Haim said.
