In the 300th game of a European football championship, Wales prevailed against Turkey.

With the 2-0 (0-0) win, the Welsh now have a very good chance of reaching the round of 16 with four points.

Aaron Ramsey scored just before the break to give his team the lead (42nd minute)., Connor Roberts increased in stoppage time (90th + 5th). )

Turkey, on the other hand, has to win the last group game against Switzerland after two defeats in order to have a chance of the knockout round.

Wales will play against Italy at the end of Group A.

Turkey had been criticized for its defensive orientation at the 0-3 (0-0) start in Rome. Against Wales, the Turks started more offensively. But Wales also immediately looked for the way forward and had the first chance of the game. Aaron Ramsey was staged in the penalty area by Gareth Bale. Ugurcan Cakir saved with a foot defense (7th). Less than three minutes later, Burak Yilmaz had a good opportunity for Turkey, but put the ball next to the goal (9th).

As a result, Wales gradually gained an optical advantage and had a huge chance to take the lead through Ramsey.

After another excellent work by Bale, the Juventus man stood free in front of Cakir, but shot the ball over the goal (24th).

With the Turks, the gap between defense and midfield was often too big.

Result: many long balls with no yield.

After a corner, however, Turkey still had a good chance.

Joe Morrell saved on the line against Kaan Ayhan's header (30th).

The third co-production by Bale and Ramsey then put the Welsh in the lead.

Again Wales' captain from the half-field fit beautifully in the direction of the penalty area on Ramsey - and this time the latter kept calm in front of the goal (42nd).

Less than ten minutes after the restart, the captain had a great chance to equalize.

After a corner, Yilmaz came to the ball from five meters away from the goal, but set the game device over the goal with a lateral puller (54th).

On the other hand, Ramsey had the opportunity to make it 2-0 - this time not prepared by Bale - Cakir cleared strongly from short distance (58th).

But a short time later, the Wales captain was back in the spotlight - three times.

First he was knocked off his feet in the penalty area by Mehmet Zeki Celik, then Bale missed the subsequent penalty almost miserably - the ball went well over the goal (61).

Just a minute later, Bale almost scored the goal.

Cakir waited too long with the ball at his foot and shot the approaching Welshman.

The ball went just next to the goal.

The Turks then had a short urge phase, but neither Ayhan (63.) nor Yilmaz (71.) put the ball in the goal.

As the game progressed, coach Senol Günes' team seemed more and more nervous.

Only in the final phase did the Turks have another chance.

Merih Demiral failed after a corner with a head at the strongly reacting goalkeeper Danny Ward (87.).

In stoppage time, Roberts made the late decision - prepared by Bale.
