In preparation for the International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the National Society "Rehabilitation" and the national "Considerate" enterprise are launching a unique collaboration in which companies and bodies donate used computers, which are upgraded by workers with disabilities for the benefit of children and youth in the social and geographical periphery.

These days, a successful pilot has ended in which about 1,000 computers have been upgraded over the past month, which have been distributed to children and youth in the periphery. The collaboration will now be officially launched, as part of which the restoration company hopes and takes into account the activities of dozens of employees in activity centers around the country, who will upgrade and renew tens of thousands of computers.

This project is an extraordinary connection in the ability to meet different needs at the same time - employment for employees with disabilities and reducing the digital divide, which is also a national challenge (about 90% of households in deciles 1-4 do not have a computer and most families have many children).

Today, bodies and companies including government ministries, banks, insurance companies, health funds and more are taking part in the donation of the old computers.

After upgrading and renewing the computers, they are divided into families in the socio-geographical periphery according to the list of recommendations provided by the Ministry of Education, Welfare and the Ministry of Social Equality.

Ariel Levy, CEO of the national company "The Rehabilitation": "We are proud to lead a unique and social enterprise, which creates added value and a great contribution in various aspects: promoting employment for people with disabilities, reducing the digital gap among families and children and helping preserve the environment through existing resources.

"The Rehabilitation Company sees great value in creating diverse employment opportunities for the thousands of employees we employ in order to enable quality placement for each and every employee. I call on employers from all fields to work for a significant integration of employees with disabilities, not out of kindness, but out of genuine understanding, excellence. And business success must combine social values and soul, "Levy added.

"The 'Thoughtful' national enterprise has engraved its banner to close the digital divide in the State of Israel! In the year and a half we have been operating, we have collected tens of thousands of computers from companies and government offices that have upgraded them, and distributed over 11,000 computers to children, young and old," said Noam Shai. Director of the national enterprise "Considerate".
