The city is looking for a host for the traditional folk festival on Jahnstrasse.

After the trouble at the forest summer 2021, the city has to rewrite.

Geretsried - With a view to the 2022 calendar of events, the question arises whether and how the forest summer should take place.

The folk festival this year "ended ingloriously", as Hans Hopfner (SPD) recently put it in the city council meeting.

As reported, the landlord Christian Fahrenschon, who has been responsible for the forest summer since 2017, has canceled his contract with the city, which is automatically extended every year.

The reason for this was that he felt that the Third Mayor Gerhard Meinl was not treating him very courteously.

In the summer of 2021, when the weather was bad and there were hardly any visitors, the festival host wanted to hire fewer security personnel than had been regulated by a notification, which Meinl refused.

The requirement was due to the corona pandemic.

In the city council, Hopfner passed on the question of how things will continue after the dispute with the forest summer.

Vice-Mayor Sonja Frank, who chaired the meeting, announced that the topic would be dealt with in the main and finance committee.

“The landlord has given notice, so we have to re-advertise,” explains Mayor Michael Müller when asked by our newspaper.

At the moment, however, he could not talk about details.

"We are in good talks with potential providers," said the town hall chief.
