Formula 1 enthusiasts will be able to plan their Sundays in 2022. And the next calendar, which has just been revealed after having received the approval of the World Motor Sport Council, has some nice surprises in store for them.
For the first time, there will indeed be 23 Grands Prix, one more than the current season which should have counted as many without the Covid crisis.
The activity will be all the more dense as the championship will take place between mid-March and mid-November, that is to say eight months instead of nine.
The French Grand Prix, which had until then taken its quarters in mid-June, will be contested on July 24.

Given the density, there will be four doubles and three triplets on consecutive weekends.
As before, the season will start in Bahrain.
After two blank seasons, the Australian Grand Prix will return in mid-April in Melbourne.
The same goes for the traditional events in Canada (19/06), Singapore and Japan (in October), which had disappeared from the 2021 calendar for health reasons.
For the first time since 1984, two races are announced in the United States. The first will be the Miami GP (Florida), on May 8, which confirms the will of Liberty Media, the organizer of the competition, since its arrival in 2017. “The United States is a growing market for us, and we are encouraged by the reach we have there and which will be supported by this second event, ”said Stefano Domenicalli, F1 boss. The other event will take place in Austin (Texas) at the end of October.
The traditional European races are almost all maintained.
Monaco is scheduled for the end of May just after Spain.
During July, Great Britain will follow one another at Silverstone, Austria (bastion of Red Bull, the Verstappen team).
Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy (Monza) and Russia are still present.
The Middle East concentrates three events: Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in opening, and finally Abu Dhabi to close the year.
The Qatar GP, which will take place for the first time next month, will not return until 2023 so as not to interfere with the FIFA World Cup.
The end of the season will be American, with Austin, then Mexico and Brazil.
Two races are temporarily disappearing from the calendar: those of Portugal and Turkey.
The Chinese Grand Prix, initially planned, suffered the consequences of the pandemic and was replaced in April by that of Emilia-Romagna on the Imola circuit.
Finally, the last modification concerns the Sprint Qualifications, the novelty of this year which has given new suspense to the competition, which will be present in a third of the events.
