Formula 1: Verstappen starts from pole position in his home race in Zandvoort

The Red Bull driver prevailed in qualifying for his home race in Zandvoort against Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, both Mercedes.

Sebastian Vettel did not get past 17th place in the Aston Martin, Haas driver Mick Schumacher starts from 19th place.

For Verstappen it is the seventh pole of the season and the tenth of his Formula 1 career.

In the championship standings, Hamilton leads after twelve races by just three points over Verstappen.

Formula 1 returns to the Netherlands after 36 years.

The last time there was a race in Zandvoort, the reigning world champion was Niki Lauda, ​​today's champion Lewis Hamilton was just four months old - and the 23-year-old Verstappen, who can expect an orange party, was not yet born.
