Four oil tankers declared out of control today in mysterious circumstances in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of the UAE.
The Associated Press reported that "the oil tankers (Queen Imatha), (Golden Brilliant), (Jack Buga) and (Ibis) indicated through their automatic identification system tracking devices that they were out of control in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of the Emirate of Fujairah.
For his part, the website "Marintraffic.com" said that the tankers announced at the same time, through their automatic identification system, that communication with them had been cut off, which means that the ships lost their power and could no longer be steered.
In turn, the British Maritime Trade Agency warned of an accident in international waters off the coast of the Emirate of Fujairah, suggesting that it was a possible piracy and kidnapping.
The British Maritime Trade Agency called for extreme caution in the area, located 60 nautical miles east of Fujairah, without giving further details.
The Fifth Fleet of the US Army or the British Ministry of Defense did not immediately comment on the incident, while the British government did not acknowledge the incident.
