The fact that black people are portrayed as particularly aggressive is a classic stereotype in racism research.

And of course a stereotype like this can also be found in feature films.

But that doesn't diminish the mastery that actors like Frank McRae have developed in portraying this aggressiveness.

Frank McRae played the angry supervisor so impressively that there is a special compilation of the best scenes of this kind from him on YouTube.

To be seen prominently in it: the tirade that he fired as captain on the policeman Cates played by Nick Nolte in »Just 48 Hours« (1982).

And of course his appearances as Lieutenant Dekker in “Last Action Hero” (1993) with Arnold Schwarzenegger, where McRae's “Slater !!!” screams come into their own as a comic effect.

After graduating from Tennessee State University, McRae first pursued a career as an American football player, playing for the Chicago Bears in the NFL in 1967.

His acting career began with the role of a prisoner in the gangster film »Dillinger« (1973);

"Rocky II" (1979) was one of four films in which he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone.

McRae's specialty were action comedies, for example "The Shrill Four on the Move" or "The Miracle on 8th Street".

In addition to Timothy Dalton, the tall actor was seen in "James Bond 007 - License to Kill" in 1989 in the role of Bond companion Sharkey;

In the opening sequence, he and Bond are supposed to accompany his colleague Felix Leitner to the altar.

Frank McRae died on April 29th.

He died of a heart attack in Santa Monica, California, as his daughter-in-law Suzanne McRae announced on Wednesday to the industry journals Variety and Deadline.

McRae was 80 years old.
