Tölz beats Lindau after a weak start and a 0:4 deficit with 5:4 aet

Bad Tölz – crazy game.

Tölzer lion with two faces.

First overwhelmed and surprised by strong Lindauers, with a holey defense and deficits in commitment.

Then as if freed from the cage: Snappy, combative, just lions.

On Tuesday evening, Tölz caught up a 4-0 deficit against EV Lindau in the last third, saved himself in extra time and won 5-4.

"A great game, we showed character, I'm proud of my team," said coach Ryan Foster.

Furious catch-up race

But first the lions showed him what he didn't want to see: They seemed to have lifted off a little after the 5-2 win against Memmingen.

Insecurities, lack of accuracy, not everyone with full commitment.

But it was also due to the opponent, who came stronger than expected.

"0:3 after 20 minutes - hats off to Lindau, they started well," says Foster.

The hosts seemed surprised by the pace of EV Lindau and initially had nothing to oppose the Islanders.

Vinzenz Mayer, Florian Dosch, last-minute signing Skylar Pacheco, who was involved in the first two goals, always presented the Tölzer with big problems.

The first third was quite hopeless - and because the lions didn't stick to the discipline requirements of the trainer with two outnumbered goals - lost 0:3.

Lethargy only discarded in the second third

And not much went forward.

Tyler Ward often got stuck, there was a lack of ideas in the structure or coolness in the end: Hannes Sedlmayr could not do anything with the disc in the slot, Ludwig Nirschl frittered away a disc in a good position.

"But in the second third we found a way back," says Foster.

The Tölzers finally got over their lethargy, stayed longer in the offensive zone and put pressure on the box well protected by Matthias Nemec.

But Enrico Salvarani had to reach behind him again when Martin Mairitsch successfully completed a counterattack.

Nick Huard turns the game to win

0:4 deficit, the Kas was bitten.

No way: In the final third, the Tölzer began a furious race to catch up.

"We had nothing left to lose, we fought until the end," says Foster happily.

Symbolic of the tirelessly toiling Ludwig Nirschl, who scored both the 1:4 connection and the hard-earned 4:4 equalization 58 seconds before the end.

Nick Huard, who joined the lions just a week ago, seems to have already arrived: The Canadian scored coldly to make it 2: 4 and completed his solo in extra time to win 5: 4.
