On the sidelines of the upcoming G7 summit in Elmau, there was a protest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen around 10 p.m.

The heads of the G7 heads of state and government were projected onto the large Olympic ski jump.

Below you can read: “Corona, climate, hunger – G7, can you make the jump?” The saying was also in English and French.

The campaign was organized by "One", a movement that, according to its own press release, "is committed to ending extreme poverty and avoidable diseases by 2030." However, it is questionable whether the projection is visible as far as Elmau.

G7 summit in Elmau: protest camp is preparing for tomorrow's demo

While the participants of the G7 summit are arriving at Schloss Elmau, the critics’ camp in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is also filling up.

"We are here from different movements, but we are united in the conviction that it cannot be the case that decisions that affect the whole world are made by seven people who basically represent individual national interests," explained one of the camp spokespersons 27-year-old Christopher from Berlin.

According to the organizers, around 200 camp participants arrived on Saturday evening;

There would be space for up to 750. The participants of different ages organize themselves in a grassroots-democratic manner, which also includes taking on community services such as chopping vegetables for vegan meals.

"But many just sit here and crochet hats and look at the beautiful mountain panorama," said Christopher.

On Sunday, as soon as the G7 summit begins, there will be a demo through the town at the foot of the Zugspitze.

The message came on Saturday afternoon: Joe Biden is on his way to Munich.

The US President is expected to arrive at Munich Airport in the late evening, around 10.45 p.m., with the famous Air Force One.

The French President will also arrive in Bavaria on Saturday evening, one day before the summit meeting officially begins.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and host of this year's summit meeting will also be there from Saturday.

The rest of the G7 leaders will arrive on Sunday: Mario Draghi (Italy), Fumio Kishida (Japan), Boris Johnson (UK) and Justin Trudeau (Canada).

The first important events at the G7 summit took place on Saturday: in Munich, 15 organizations had called for a major demonstration as part of the top political meeting, and around noon the international media center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was opened.
