In the most recent meeting of the Gaißacher municipal council, there is a demolition of the "Jägerwirt" and a new building on the site.

Gaißach

– In the meantime, people in the village have come to terms with the fact that the traditional “Jägerwirt” no longer exists.

Now the time has come that the owner has submitted her planning application to the municipal council for the complete demolition of the old building (Village 17; restaurant with a large hall) and for a new building on the same site.

In the former restaurant, which is only a stone's throw away from the parish church of St. Michael, wedding celebrations, town meetings, club meetings and other major events took place, and people also stopped there after church and for the funeral feast.

"The loss of the restaurant hurts," stressed not only Susanne Merk.

However, she and others also made it clear that the applicant has a legal right to a replacement building with a different use in any case.

The new building will have very similar dimensions to the old one, but will be set back from the main street by around two meters.

Eight apartments and businesses are planned

The building with a north-south orientation of the ridge and a transverse building projecting to the east on the south side will be 38 meters long.

Eight apartments and five commercial businesses or shops are planned - for example a bakery, if the wishes of the municipality are met.

The municipal council has now given its agreement in principle, but made conditions regarding the design of the car park and the number of public car parks in the north.

In addition, the municipality would like a property assignment on the west side in order to be able to create a safe sidewalk along the road to the new cemetery.

A new restaurant is not yet in sight

So where to go?

Because the restaurant in Obergries Sportheim and a few months ago the "Zachschuster" in Untergries closed down a long time ago, the community and the entire village community are now almost blank: The "Mühlwirt" - it is much smaller than that "Jägerwirt" - is currently being renovated and will not open again until spring, and the gastronomy at the Reiserlift is limited to the winter season.

That's not a pretty prospect.
