In Gdansk a German coach collided with a tram, more than a dozen people were injured. The bus driver was arrested - and apparently was not drunk.

In the collision between a German coach and a tram, 13 people were injured in Gdańsk, Poland. According to a spokeswoman for the Gdańsk police, the bus came from Kandern near Lörrach (Baden-Württemberg).

The 60-year-old German driver was therefore arrested for the time being. However, an alcohol test showed that the man was sober.

According to initial investigations, the driver was probably bent at red and collided with the tram in the maneuver. A video from TVN24 shows how the bus turns left over the tracks and is hit in the middle by the approaching train.

As reported by the news agency PAP, citing a spokesman for the Danziger fire department, it was 10 of the 13 injured Germans from the bus. Three more injured were Poles - including the tram driver and two passengers.

The driver of the tram was trapped in his cabin and had to be released by the rescue workers. The salvage of the derailed train lasted on Thursday evening. In the center of the city it came to traffic obstructions.
