Germany is cautiously working against easing.

Neighboring countries have been doing this for a long time.

Such is the current corona situation in Europe.

Munich - Relaxation at last!

But how risky is that?

A look at the neighboring countries, some of which have been running outdoor dining and culture for a long time, gives hope that this can work even without a dramatic worsening of the pandemic situation.

Coronavirus in Europe: Germany's neighboring countries are easing

Switzerland:

Against the advice of the scientific advisors, the Confederates were even allowed indoor events two weeks ago. Fitness studios and theaters are also open. The number of infections is stagnating, the 7-day incidence * is similar to that in Germany at 141.5. The situation in the intensive care units is also stable - but younger patients are increasingly ending up there too.

Denmark:

Shops have long since reopened and the streets are full of people.

Cafes, restaurants and bars have been able to serve customers again for two weeks - inside, however, only if the guests can prove a negative corona test *, a vaccination or a survived infection via the app.

Despite the opening, the Danish number of new infections has remained stable - lower than in Germany.

The seven-day incidence on Tuesday was 91.9.

Corona easing in Europe: Italy opens gastronomy

Italy:

The Uffizi Gallery in Florence opened again on Tuesday - Italy, which was so hard hit by Corona *, is also loosening up. Where the numbers are moderate, museums and cinemas as well as restaurants and bars are allowed to open outdoors. From June 1st, people should be able to sit inside again in pubs. The incidence in Italy recently fell steadily and stood at 132 on Tuesday.

France:

Although the incidence is still significantly higher than in Germany (Tuesday 226.8), France ended the tough restrictions on movement on Monday (you could not move further than ten kilometers from your place of residence without good reason). From May 19, outdoor areas of restaurants, shops and cultural institutions are allowed to reopen. Further easing is to follow in June. President Emmanuel Macron also announced a kind of emergency brake, which, however, only takes effect when the incidence exceeds 400.

Austria:

From May 19, gastronomy, hotels, sports and culture will open again. And from then on, a first corona vaccination should be considered an entry ticket for restaurants or events. In Austria, too, the seven-day incidence fell recently and is roughly at the German level at 142.6.
