Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei said on Thursday that he felt "concerned" about the temporary pause on the part of the United States in cooperation with the Public Ministry of Guatemala and that the country will seek the "cooperation of international organizations and countries friends".
In a message published on his social networks, the president said he was grateful for the support of the United States, which he says "has been fundamental to advance in our common objectives."
Among those objectives, Giammattei listed the fight against organized crime and corruption;
and added that the Public Ministry "plays a fundamental role, so suspending support is counterproductive to achieving them."

“I am concerned about the negative impact that this measure will have on the efforts that the entire Government of Guatemala is making to achieve these objectives;
I consider it necessary not to close communication with the Public Ministry and to have the opportunity to discuss the reasons for this measure, ”says the president's message.
In addition, he indicated that he has instructed the Minister of Finance, Álvaro González, to "look for budget support options" and the Foreign Minister, Pedro Brolo, to "promote the cooperation of international organizations and friendly countries, in such a way that these efforts do not are diminished ”.
