While some companies currently only work from home, Google has published an assessment for its group on how it will work after the pandemic. Accordingly, many will probably go back to the office.

The swan song for the office towers in the city centers may have come too early: The US internet company Google expects that after the end of the corona pandemic, only around one in five employees in the internet company will work from home on a permanent basis.

Around 60 percent would come to the office a few days a week to work with their teams.

The decision about who works where will be made taking into account the tasks of an employee, said a spokesman.

At the end of last year, Google had already promised the workforce more freedom in choosing where to work.

Now it was said that employees will be able to work four weeks a year instead of the previous two weeks from another city instead of their usual place of work.

Due to the pandemic, employees do not have to go to the office until the end of September.

Twitter wants to allow home office permanently

"The future of work is flexibility," wrote Google boss Sundar Pichai in an email to the workforce, which was also published on the Google website.

The changes should help you do a good job while having fun.

That might actually matter, because parents in particular suffer in the Corona home office.

Many of them feel that they are not doing their job or their children justice.

However, there are strategies that can help against the lockdown frenzy.

The Google umbrella company Alphabet last had almost 140,000 employees.

Google and other tech companies were among the first to leave their employees at home last year, and the company will continue to offer "reset days" in the home office if necessary.

Some companies like Twitter went even further and assured employees that they would be able to work from anywhere after the pandemic.

In Germany, during the pandemic, employers have to offer home offices wherever possible.

Employees are also obliged to use this offer - provided there are no reasons to the contrary, such as disruption by third parties or a lack of adequate workplaces.
