Holders of a vehicle classified Crit'Air 3 in Île-de-France benefit from a reprieve.
The ban on the circulation of these cars, which are equipped with a diesel engine dating from before 2010 or a gasoline produced before 2006, has indeed been postponed for a year and will take effect on July 1, 2023.

Behind this decision: the Métropole du Grand Paris (MGP), indicates
Le Parisien
.
According to the Métropole, which expressed itself in a deliberation, the conditions are not met for the ban initially planned for July 1, 2022 to be implemented.
Last February, it had already announced that the calendar would not be kept, indicating that the ban would apply from the beginning of the year 2023, minimum.
Barriers to Implementation
The Metropolis had then indicated that the postponement was linked to the expectation of returns from the State on two points.
The first: that the MGP be recognized
"as a territory of experimentation for the implementation of a loan at zero interest in order to reduce the remainder to be paid by the most modest households",
and that the latter can be helped up to up to 6000 euros in the purchase of a cleaner vehicle.
Indeed, it appears to the Metropolis that these households are the most vulnerable to bans on old vehicles.
The number of requests for access to the aid scheme “
Métropolerouleclean!
is indicative of this need, notes
Le Parisien
: the number of requests increased from 293 to 1,470 between 2020 and 2021.

The other obstacle to the implementation of the ban is the difficulty of approving radars to practice
“automated sanction control”
.
Because currently, it is mainly the police who check whether vehicles circulating in the metropolitan low emission zone (ZFE) have their Crit'Air badge.
