In Greece, an experiment will begin on Sunday in 90 patients with a drug for corona developed in Ichilov, which so far has shown 96% efficacy in an initial and limited phase.
Last Thursday, Prof. Nadir Arber of Ichilov, one of the drug's developers, visited Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsutakis and the Greek Deputy Health Minister to discuss the expected experiment.
At the same time, the Government of India, which is facing a large and severe wave of illness these days, is also seeking to conduct a follow-up trial on the drug.
The Brazilian government has also shown interest in conducting a drug trial.
The drug, developed in Prof. Arber's laboratory in Ichilov, is called EXO-CD24 and is taken by inhalation and not by injection.
The product works to calm the cytokine storm - the severe immune response that takes place in the immune system of severe corona patients.
According to Ichilov's announcement, the drug was distributed as part of the trial to 30 corona patients who are in moderate or severe condition, and all recovered from the virus, with 29 of them recovering within three to five days.
It should be noted that today a discussion took place in the Ministry of Health regarding the continuation of the trial of the drug in Israel, in the second and third phases at the same time.
However, the request has not yet been approved.
