An information center directly at the main train station in Cottbus will in future provide information about the measures for structural change in Lusatia.
This includes the new maintenance facility of Deutsche Bahn, which will start operations in 2024.
After the symbolic groundbreaking, construction of the information center began, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Friday.
Cottbus - The 150 square meter building is due to open at the end of February 2022.
The information center should show the current state of planning of the new railway plant and inform about the progress of the construction work.
In the pavilion, further projects from the Investment Law Coal Regions will be presented, which are intended to promote structural change in Brandenburg.
The pavilion also offers space for events.
The information center is financed by funds from the Federal Structural Strengthening Act.

DB is currently receiving a new ICE 4 every three weeks. The fleet comprises more than 80 trains.
By the end of 2024, 137 ICE 4 trains are to be in use across Germany.
One billion euros will be invested in the plant.
