Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stressed that the resumption of the work of the Russian diplomatic mission to NATO in Brussels is not on the horizon as a result of the general deterioration of relations between Russia and the alliance countries.

“It is doubtful that we will return to Brussels in light of the current developments, just as holding a meeting of the Council of Russia” NATO is being postponed, Grushko said during discussions under the title “Relationships between Russia and NATO, or does the rest of the conversation have to be done” organized by the Valdai Forum today. The background to the general deterioration of relations between us,” expressing his conviction that the resumption of dialogue between Moscow and the alliance requires a fundamental change in NATO’s approach to Russia, both in terms of military planning and politically.

According to the Russian diplomat, it is no longer possible for the two sides to take any practical decisions in light of the alliance's adherence to its illogical calls for Russia to implement the Minsk agreements on settling the conflict in Ukraine.

Grushko explained that it is primarily about a proposal put forward by Russia in 2018 to resume military dialogue with NATO, including consultations of military experts from both parties on issues of mutual interest.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously announced that NATO had broken the mechanisms of dialogue with Russia and that relations between the two parties had become disappointing.
