Headmaster, local council, and more: Gottfried Gleixner was a man who left deep traces in Hallbergmoos. He died on April 19 at the age of 86.

Hallbergmoos - Gottfried Gleixner was born in Schwabbruck (district of Schongau). There he grew up with 14 siblings and learned the bakery trade. In 1960 he came to the Birkeneck youth work as a master and vocational school teacher, where he worked as a school principal from 1971 to 1997.

After the early death of his wife Margarethe, Gleixner raised the four children alone. He also found the time to get involved in the Hallbergmoos community in a variety of ways. First on a political level: in 1966 Gleixner was one of the founding members of the CSU local association. He was a municipal councilor for ten years, first in Notzing and later in 1978 after the regional reform in Hallbergmoos.

Community honors achievement with Silver Citizen Medal

Gleixner was also a volunteer judge, parish council chairman, actor at "Hallberger Brettl" and socially involved in various areas. In 1985 he received the Golden Badge of Honor of the Caritas Association for his services, followed in 1989 by the Medal of Merit of the Federal Order of Merit. In 1997, the municipality of Hallbergmoos recognized Gleixner's outstanding commitment by awarding the Silver Citizen's Medal.

He lent his voice to the church choir

Gleixner, who had relocated in retirement, was the center of his life after running in Berchtesgadener Land. There he lived with his second wife Maria since 1997. In the parish, the deceased was valued as a lecturer, communion worker, Caritas collector and support, employee and honorary member of the world shop. He lent his voice to the church choir, kept the collection of notes in order and was treasurer of the association for church music.

His funeral had to take place in the closest family because of the corona restrictions.
