After his strong fightback from last to fifth place in Spain, Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton believes in a Mercedes upswing in Formula 1.
Barcelona - "It's a great sign that we're moving in the right direction.
I have no doubts," he said in Barcelona.
After an early accident with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, the Briton fell back to the end of the field on the first lap and even wanted to give up.
His team convinced the 37-year-old to continue.
Shortly before the end, Hamilton was even in fourth place, but had to give up one place due to technical problems.
After a weak start to the season, the Silver Arrows came to Spain with a technically heavily modified car.
The work paid off, as Hamilton's teammate George Russell even finished third on the podium in Max Verstappen's fourth win of the season in the Red Bull.
"If that hadn't happened, I could have fought with Red Bull," Hamilton said of his own early accident: "It gives me great hope that we can fight with them again in the future."
Record world champion Hamilton felt like he had in the past few years when catching up, when he humiliated his opponents with the superior car at times.
"That was really good.
A race like this, in which you come from so far behind, is like a win," said Hamilton, praising: "We've improved the car a lot." dpa
