Vice President Kamala Harris presented on Thursday a strategy to address the causes that lead to the arrival of thousands of citizens from Central America to the United States, with the aim of creating "a just, orderly and humane immigration system." 

Harris warned, however, that his government's efforts will not produce immediate results and that it cannot alone take all the measures to reverse the situation in the Central American countries.

"First, addressing the root causes of migration is critical to our overall immigration effort," Harris explained in a statement on the US government's plan.
