(ANSA) - FLORENCE, JUL 30 - There is no religious reason for any sentiment towards US citizens after their country decided to withdraw from Iraq. This, according to the police headquarters in Florence, was the reason that led a Kurd to attack six people in the street in different areas of Florence for two days, even wounding them with knives or box cutters, not just with his bare hands.
The 31-year-old man was arrested after having injured a Dutch tourist on a tram on Thursday evening for no apparent reason with a knife, who reported a prognosis of 10 days. Another attacked passer-by, a thirty-year-old Italian stabbed in the abdomen and head on July 28 evening in the center of Florence, is serious, according to the prognosis reserved for the Careggi hospital. It wouldn't be life threatening anyway.
From the reconstructions it emerges that the 31-year-old has sometimes attacked without saying a word; on other occasions he asked in English which country the victims were from ('Where are youfrom?'). "In the light of the reconstruction carried out - explains the Florence police squad -, at the basis of these behaviors there are no fundamentalist religious motivations, but rather the fact that the man, of Kurdish ethnicity, was looking for US citizens because he feeds resentment towards the United States. 'America due to the alleged abandonment of its people following the withdrawal from Iraq of the anti-Daesh coalition ". Tomorrow a hearing for validation by the investigating judge. Investigations continue. (HANDLE).
