Many homeowners want to buy a photovoltaic system or modern heating - but not everyone can afford it financially. But costs are not the only obstacle.

In view of the high energy prices, interest in solar systems and heat pumps is increasing among homeowners in Germany, according to a survey by the company YouGov on behalf of the energy service provider Wegatech.

34 percent of those surveyed describe it as likely or very likely to buy a photovoltaic system in the next two years.

15 percent state that the installation of a heat pump is likely or very likely.

The interest among study participants with a monthly household income of 10,000 euros or more is particularly high.

Of those who were undecided and rejected, 48 percent described the acquisition costs as a deterrent: The price of a heat pump including installation and any development of the heat source starts at around 11,000 euros.

Another 15 percent point to structural obstacles such as small roofs or poor insulation.

The Eon Group also reports great interest in climate protection solutions for houses.

"We have significantly more demand than what we can offer," says CFO Marc Spieker.

Reason are bottlenecks, among other things with solar panels.

Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) had announced a heat pump offensive.

The efficient heating systems are intended to help achieve climate targets and become less dependent on Russian gas.

Last year, the Ministry of Economics approved applications for funding amounting to 572 million euros, which included at least one heat pump.

One million devices are in use today.

By 2030 it should be six million.

The federal government recently lowered the funding, but still pays at least 25 percent of the purchase price, with a maximum of 40 percent.

You used to get up to 30,000 euros, after the reform up to 24,000 euros.
