In autumn of last year, a new training course for volunteers in the field of everyday and care companions, dementia helpers and help with household services began at the Citizens' Association on the Lech.

After two meetings in Lechbruck it was over for the time being due to the lockdown, and it was hoped to be able to continue in the new year with presence.

Lechbruck / Bernbeuren

- As is well known, nothing came of this, so trainer Regina Carbone dealt with the digital possibilities.

And after a few tests, it went online in February for all participants who had the technical prerequisites and who also liked the course in this way.

The housekeeping part with the topics of nutrition in old age, accident prevention, hygiene, cleaning and activating participation of those in need of care took place in cooperation with the BRK Marktoberdorf.

Fortunately, the last part was able to take place on site again, and with the two speakers Josef Schelle and Lisa Merlonetti, two representatives of the Weilheim-Schongau district office were even present on the topic of childcare law and senior citizen assistance.

The hall of the Auerberghalle was big enough for the training to be able to keep the distances, and the approximately 20 attendees followed with interest the explanations of the health care proxy or living will, which should be thought about in good time and, above all, at any age.

Afterwards, Xaver Wörle, as chairman of the citizens' association, together with nurse Regina Carbone presented the certificates of participation to the trained helpers, who came from the four member communities, but also from the multi-generational house Roßhaupten or Pfronten.

In this area, the citizens' association also works very closely with the dementia officer Stephan Vogt in the Ostallgäu district office, and once the training has been completed, the helpers can now be used in offers to provide support in everyday life.

The reasons for taking part are different: some need the course for a job, others want to volunteer, and of course caring relatives and interested parties can also take part if they are interested in issues such as emergency action, nursing care, communication and conversation, networking opportunities as well as stress factors and Want to educate yourself about self-care.

After a short summer break, the citizens' association will probably start the next helper training from September 15th, which will last about ten evenings and one Saturday for the housekeeping part. Then hopefully the ten or so participants who were unable to follow the course that has now been completed via the Internet can also continue. Registrations and queries are always possible via the office of the citizens' association from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. by calling 08862/987813 or by email to info@buergerverein-am-lech.de.
