Dozens of people were killed in a high-rise fire in Taiwan.
According to the fire department, there are at least 46 fatalities.
More than 40 other people were injured.
The 13-story residential and commercial building had burned for hours in the early hours of the night.
Firefighters were only able to bring the fire under control on Thursday morning.
Eyewitness
“I heard a loud bang and then used fire out.
Maybe it was because of the power lines that are attached outside.
I've heard them crack a lot in the last few days. "
The fire brigade fears that the number of victims could increase as many residents were trapped on the upper floors and the escape routes were partially blocked.
An official said the building had been home to more than a hundred people, including many seniors with physical disabilities or dementia.
Most of the residents were trapped between the seventh and eleventh floors.
The lower six floors were empty and originally used to be restaurants, karaoke clubs and a cinema.
That is why the building was called "Haunted House" in the city.
