Holiday route: nearly 1,000 km of traffic jams in France

Drivers will have to be patient on the roads this Saturday.

Almost 1,000 km of traffic jams were measured on this Saturday classified as red by Bison smart in the direction of the returns.

The peak in traffic was reached at noon with 960 km of slowdowns in total for this new summer crossover between the departure of new holidaymakers in August and the return of those who left earlier in the summer.

The main difficulties are concentrated on the A7 motorway in the Rhône valley, with more than 110 km of traffic jams and accordion traffic between Lyon and Marseille.

Other difficulties are also to be noted around the large agglomerations of the Great West such as Rennes, Nantes, Le Mans, Rouen, or Orléans.

In the region, there are thus 5 km to 25 km of traffic jams and slowdowns in various sectors and when approaching certain toll barriers, observes Bison Smart.

Day classified red on the Mediterranean arc

In the direction of departures, the day is classified orange but red on the Mediterranean arc, the Pyrenees and in New Aquitaine.

Traffic difficulties for those taking the vacation route are likely to increase in the afternoon.

Bison futé recommends that motorists, when leaving, avoid several axes as much as possible, in particular the A7 between Orange and Lyon from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the A10 between Saintes and Bordeaux, or the A9 between Narbonne and Orange which will be heavily charged from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Likewise, in the direction of the returns, Bison futé foresees particularly congested axes this afternoon on the A7, the A9, the A62 but also the A61 between Narbonne and Carcassonne from 10 am to 8 pm.

Finally, Ile-de-France motorists are recommended to return to or cross the Ile-de-France before 2 p.m.
