The activities of the “Valley for Syrian Doctors in Homeland and Expatriate” conference, which is organized by Al-Wadi International Private University in cooperation with the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists, the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, the Association of Friends of Expatriates, and the Syrian Association of Oncologists, were launched in the premises of Al-Wadi University in the western countryside of Homs.

The activities of the first day of the conference, which will continue until next Sunday, included lectures on the new in ophthalmology in the fields of neurology and oncology, presented by a number of expatriate doctors, in person and via the Internet.

In his speech, the head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Kamal Amer, considered that holding the conference constitutes a message of steadfastness and defiance for those who wanted to ruin our country. It also contributes to supporting scientific research, community development and scientific partnership between public and private universities, pointing to the added value of the participation of doctors from the expatriate as they are graduates of Syrian universities. It is also an opportunity to exchange Experiences, benefit from important experiences, interest in rehabilitation and training, increase doctors’ knowledge, and access to new research in the scientific field.

In a press statement, the President of Al-Wadi International Private University, Dr. Bashir Elias, confirmed the richness of the conference through the participation of doctors from abroad and at home, and it addressed the most important and latest scientific findings in the medical field to raise the level of education in universities and joint studies.

The head of the Association of Friends of Expatriate Doctors in Homs, Eng. Bashar Khuzam, said that the association is making efforts to attract expatriates and communicate with them, stressing the importance of the presence of expatriate doctors from several countries, which is an added value to the health and medical sector through access to recent research.

Dr. Marwan Barhoum, an expatriate in France, pointed out the importance of participating in the conference’s activities, which contributes to exchanging experiences and knowledge, talking about new scientific research and working to consolidate its holding periodically, indicating that the current session will focus on titles, the most important of which are the Corona epidemic, pediatrics, general surgery, cancer and others.

Dr. Michael Youssef, a general surgeon, from Wadi Al-Nadara, Homs, confirmed that holding the conference in the presence of expatriate doctors from different countries is a great opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about everything new in the medical field.

Dr. Elias Maamari, an expatriate in America, explained that the surrounding circumstances dictated the virtual participation of some doctors in the conference and their non-attendance, but they insisted on participating to present and benefit from their experiences, indicating that the number of doctors participating in the conference is 175, of whom 75 participate virtually via the Internet.

During the activities of the first day, an exhibition of a number of pharmaceutical companies was held, where some of their representatives confirmed that their participation contributes to introducing products, encouraging local pharmaceutical industries, and learning about the experiences of others in this field.

On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition of drawings entitled “Expatriation” was also held, where Susanna Sarah, an art teacher, indicated that the Association of Friends of Expatriates conducted the competition with the participation of 40 talents from 14 to 30 years old, and the topics of the paintings emphasized the importance of expatriate communication with their homeland.

Tomorrow, the conference will include separate sessions on “surgery, Covid and a children’s session” for several doctors and a short story competition.
