Supporters of the right to abortion want to demonstrate nationwide on Saturday in the United States against the imminent reversal of a landmark judgment on abortion rights.
Among other things, protest marches are planned in the major cities of Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington.
The organizers expect hundreds of thousands of participants.
The reason for the protests is a draft judgment of the country's Supreme Court that was leaked at the beginning of last week.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court could replace the landmark judgment "Roe v.
Wade« which had enshrined a fundamental right to abortion.
Because there is no federal law on the subject, states would subsequently have a free hand to ban abortion or drastically restrict access to abortion.
Around half of the 50 states are likely to go this route.
On Wednesday, the Democrats in the US Senate failed in their attempt to enshrine abortion rights in federal law.
In a vote, only 49 of the 100 senators voted to go ahead with the bill -- as expected, clearly missing the 60 votes required in this case.
