The number of people left without electricity in Florida has risen to 2.5 million following the arrival of the devastating Hurricane Ian. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 29 - The number of people left without electricity in Florida after the arrival of the devastating hurricane Ian has risen to 2.5 million.

Although it weakened to a Category 1 storm overnight, the National Hurricane Center said Ian is still sweeping areas of the Florida peninsula with "dangerous and catastrophic" storms, storm surges and floods.
