Iconic car: bidder pays 3.26 million euros for James Bond's Aston Martin

At the beginning of the film No Time To Die, 007 is in a chase in an Aston Martin DB5. It has now been auctioned off for millions – along with many other objects from 60 years of Bond.

An Aston Martin DB5 from the recent James Bond film No Time To Die has fetched the equivalent of around €3.26million (£2.92million) at auction.

The iconic car was used in a scene at the beginning of the action thriller.

Now it was part of an auction held on Wednesday at Christie's in London to mark the 60th anniversary of the 007 films.

The proceeds of the auction benefit almost 50 aid organizations and charities.

Interested parties from Spain, the USA, Canada and Japan, among others, bid by telephone and Internet.

An Aston Martin V8, also driven by Bond actor Daniel Craig in No Time To Die, went under the hammer in front of 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for around 704,000 euros (630,000 pounds).

In most cases, the estimated value was significantly exceeded.

"This is incredible," Wilson said after the two-hour event.

Broccoli fought back tears.

In addition to several cars, other items for the good cause were auctioned off: an Omega watch worn by Craig (about 250,000 euros), a replica of a Fabergé egg from »Octopussy« with Roger Moore (about 366,000 euros) and a boat from the film »The World Is Not Enough« with Pierce Brosnan (about 141,000 euros).

Various events are taking place around the 60th anniversary, including a concert with the music from the Bond films.

Stars like Dame Shirley Bassey ("Goldfinger"), Lulu ("The Man With The Golden Gun") and the band Garbage ("The World Is Not Enough") are expected in London's Royal Albert Hall next week.
