In the video: Car theft at a gas station (Walla system!)
The police prosecution division filed an indictment yesterday (Wednesday) against a 26-year-old Palestinian, for stealing a car outside a convenience store at a gas station in Shoham.
During his interrogation, it also emerged that the young man is a resident of the Occupied Territories who is staying in Israel without a permit and has never issued a driver's license.
He is charged with, among other things, the offenses of conspiracy to commit a crime, theft of a vehicle together and driving without a license.
Security cameras last Friday recorded how the driver of the commercial vehicle entered the store and left his vehicle with the engine running.
The defendant, who arrived at the scene with his partner, then got into the motor vehicle, and began driving.
According to the indictment, the young man was driving towards the Rantis checkpoint - where police officers spotted the stolen vehicle.
At this point, the defendant abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, but after a short chase, the police managed to stop him.

The prosecution division sought to extend the defendant's detention until the end of the proceedings against him.
The police also emphasized regarding the driver from whom his vehicle was stolen that "leaving a motor vehicle unattended constitutes a violation of traffic regulations and in addition constitutes a 'loophole calling for a thief'."
