The police arrested two young men aged 22 and 27 on suspicion of drug trafficking, and seized more than 10 million yuan of ketamine commonly known as "Kate".

The police investigation found that someone who was recruited by strangers on online social platforms, took risks in order to make quick money, became drug dealers, assisted criminal gangs in drug trafficking, and even used their homes as drug storage warehouses. The police were in MTR Kowloon the day before. Two young men were arrested at Tang Station when they were engaged in drug dealing. They seized the 22-year-old young man's kid, and then searched the house of the 27-year-old young man, and then recovered a large number of kid-boys and packaging tools.

The two youths will be charged with drug trafficking and will be brought to court tomorrow.

In order to combat organized crime, the police carried out a large-scale law enforcement operation code-named "Thunder 21". The New Territories South Region Crime Squad personnel deployed in an intelligence-led direction. They took action the night before (16th) and were arrested at MTR Kowloon Tong Station. Two men, they were dealing in drugs at the time.

The two are a 27-year-old man named Cai and a clerk, and a 22-year-old man named Chen who claims to be unemployed.

The police seized two packets of suspected ketamine, commonly known as "Kate" weighing about 2 kilograms, on Chen Nan's body. Later, officers seized about 16.5 kilograms of suspected kite and a batch of packaging tools in Cai Nan's residence in Tsing Yi.

During the operation, the police seized a total of 18.5 kilograms of suspected drug ketamine, with an estimated market value of approximately HK$10.3 million.

The two arrested men are now being detained for investigation. The police will later charge them with drug trafficking charges. They will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (19th) morning.

After the initial investigation by the police, it is believed that someone was recruited by strangers on online social platforms to take risks to make quick money, assist criminal gangs in drug trafficking, and use their homes as drug storage warehouses.

The two arrested persons did not know each other and did not have a triad background, but it is not ruled out that the gang behind them has a triad background.

Chief Inspector Zhou Zixuan of the New Territories South Region Crime Squad called on anyone who handles or comes into contact with drugs through illegal means, whether it is smoking or trafficking, the harm caused by drugs cannot be wiped out and affect their lives.

Parents should also pay attention to whether their children have abnormal habits in their lives, and remind their children that they will refuse to encounter drugs.

In addition, he also reminded students not to fall into the sugar-coated traps of criminal syndicates for extra money during the summer vacation, turning them into tools for crimes, and even more likely to face extremely serious legal liabilities, with disastrous consequences.

According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, the maximum penalty for trafficking in dangerous drugs is life imprisonment and a fine of 5 million yuan.

If any adult uses a teenager or a child to commit illegal drugs, the police also apply section 56A of the above-mentioned law to the court to apply for an additional sentence.
