In the fight against the corona pandemic: the city is working on a rapid test concept

Fürstenfeldbruck wants to become a Corona model city in Bavaria.

But even if that doesn't work, you want to set up rapid test stations.

A first test run at the parking lot of the event forum was successful.

A day ticket for a cultural or local visit can also be realized using software and a QR code.

A lot happened in the city over Easter.

Everyone pulls together: representatives of the city and the city council as well as specialists and doctors.

On the one hand, the application was submitted as one of eight model cities in Bavaria to try out corona easing concepts - based on the Tübingen model.

On the other hand, the ENT center and the company “Die Systementwickler” from Markus Ströhle set up a rapid test station at the event forum.

The model concept knitted the city councilors Andreas Lohde (CSU), Jan Halbauer (Greens), Christian Götz and Andreas Rothenberger (BBV), Mayor Erich Raff as well as Ströhle, ENT doctors and specialists at a meeting on Maundy Thursday.

There was one week to work out the multi-page concept based on the requirements of a five-page catalog of services - and that over Easter.

“But we weren't put off.” The application was submitted on time on Tuesday.

The test station

The test station comes in any case - regardless of whether it is a model city.

The project came about by chance, as Dr.

Sandra Kainzinger from the ENT Center tells us.

In conversation with an acquaintance, the actress Christina Schmiedel, they all agreed that something had to be done.

But for one it was hardly manageable.

Schmiedel made contact with Markus Ströhle and brought him and the doctors around the table.

“The tasks were distributed and it seemed feasible,” says Kainzinger.

They also presented the idea to Mayor Erich Raff and walked in open doors.

Ströhle developed software that works with all end devices and not just as an app.

Users can log in with their data and authenticate using a QR code.

“The result is communicated within 15 minutes,” explains Ströhle.

And it can be expanded to include a day ticket: “The user also receives a QR code that can be scanned at the entrance to restaurants, concert halls or other localities.” This would make visits possible - if the incidence would allow that and the district office would also approved.

On the Wednesday before Easter there was a first test run of the drive-in station in the event forum parking lot.

“It worked really well,” says Sandra Kainzinger.

The test station is expected to open for the first time on Monday.

There are still details to be clarified.

The THW has to set up the tent.

And you have to train staff.

The Corona neighborhood aid has already mobilized volunteers here, said Kainzinger.

She estimates that you can do 50 tests per person per hour.

But it starts slowly at first to see how the demand is.

Model city

“We'll see where we can set up further stations in Fürstenfeldbruck,” says Raff, just as the city council decided.

A property on the main street and the Volksfestplatz are listed as options in the concept.

Because as a model city, ten percent of the population would have to be tested every day - that's around 3800 inhabitants.

And that is associated with great costs, said Raff.

The city center plus Fürstenfeld was chosen as the test area.

Lohde reports that one is talking to alumni of the Aviation Medical Institute at the air base in order to have enough helpers.

And there is also an exchange with District Administrator Thomas Karmasin, Halbauer adds.

Because the health department has to follow up the contact persons.

“More tests also mean more positive results.” Staff from the event forum could step in here.

Scientific support from the University of Augsburg is also planned.

The Ministry of Health will decide in two weeks whether the city will be awarded the contract.

"It would be an award, but also a great challenge," says Raff. But even if they say no, those involved want to continue.

Because the Tübingen model has not failed - despite the meanwhile increasing incidence, says Halbauer.

You don't want to move from lockdown to lockdown.

"With the concept we want to provide secure perspectives." Even if the incidence does not currently allow openings, you have something in the drawer, adds Lohde.

So that beer garden, concert and museum visits may be possible again in summer.
