Endometriosis is not a term for many women, although it affects many.

The German Endometriosis Association estimates that around ten to 15 percent of all women develop endometriosis between puberty and menopause.

This causes cysts and inflammation on the ovaries and in the abdomen, which are noticeable in the form of severe menstrual pain.

Endometriosis results in chronic inflammation, scarring and adhesions that can lead to infertility.

It is estimated that the disease is responsible for 40 to 60 percent of the cases in which women involuntarily remain childless

.

An early check-up by a doctor can prevent this.

Endometriosis: When Inflammation in the Body Prevents Pregnancy

In addition to severe menstrual pain and involuntary childlessness, the following

signs are typical of endometriosis

:

  • heavy and irregular menstrual periods,

  • Pain during intercourse,

  • Abdominal and back pain

  • and associated with these symptoms are migraines, nausea and exhaustion.

What causes endometriosis has not been conclusively clarified.

Among other things, genetic predisposition and hormonal imbalance are discussed.

Anyone who suspects endometriosis should be examined by a gynecologist.

If the suspicion is confirmed, the attending physician decides whether drug therapy or an operation makes sense

Your opinion is asked:

TCM, herbal medicine and yoga for endometriosis

But alternative healing methods can also develop a healing effect,

such as acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), homeopathy and herbal medicine

.

The healing effects of a changed lifestyle should not be underestimated either: a change in diet, more exercise, stress reduction and avoiding alcohol and nicotine can help those affected.

Dr.

Volker Müller, chief physician of gynecology and gynecological oncology at the Diakonie Klinikum Jung-Stilling, said at the Siegen Health Forum: "What does not harm is a Mediterranean diet and avoiding alcohol and nicotine".

The doctor also recommended yoga and acupuncture for endometriosis.

Psychotherapy and self-help groups would also be of real help for many of those affected.
