The Île-de-France, Bouches-du-Rhône, Haute-Garonne, Gironde, Hérault, Isère, Loire-Atlantique, North, Rhône, Var will be affected by this new experiment. , the Alpes-Maritimes, the Drôme, the Vaucluse, the Pyrénées-Orientales and the metropolis of Lyon.

Accidentality up 12%
According to the report carried out by Cerema (Center for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Planning), the accident of motorized two-wheelers on the roads, where the measure was tested, had thus increased by 12% while it had fallen by 10% on other roads in the 11 departments concerned.
But Road Safety considered the statistical data too few and far between to be really conclusive, which pushed it to widen the perimeter.

An annual assessment
But while previously two-wheelers could travel between the two leftmost lanes at a maximum of 50 km / h regardless of the speed of other vehicles, they will now not be able to travel more than 30 km / h faster than those- ci (within a limit of 50 km / h maximum). For example, if the traffic is completely stopped, their speed will be limited to 30 km / h (40 km / h if the speed is 10 km / h, etc.). In addition, specific signage will be put in place from the fall on the roads concerned, recalling certain rules. It will be supported by a communication campaign, in particular in the local press, on social networks and aimed at driving schools and motorbike schools. Finally, users of Waze and ViaMichelin GPS navigation systems will be warned thatthey travel on a road where inter-lane traffic (CIF) is experienced.
The experiment, for which road safety has met the bikers' federations “
on three occasions
”, will be the subject of a “
more complete provisional and terminal annual evaluation
” than the previous one, specifies Marie Gautier-Melleray.
