Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Zarif today (Friday) accused Israel of assassinating nuclear scientist Muhsin Fahrizda.

"Terrorists murdered a senior Iranian scientist today," Zarif tweeted on his Twitter account.

"The cowardly act - with clear signs of Israeli involvement - shows that war is being waged by criminals. Iran is calling on the international community - and especially the European Union - to stop the double standard and condemn this act of terrorism."

Earlier, the Iranian Ministry of Defense confirmed in the afternoon that Pharisees had been killed in Tehran.

"On Friday afternoon, armed terrorists attacked the vehicle in which the head of the nuclear program, Muhsin Fahrizda, was traveling," it was reported.

"During the exchange of fire between his security guards and the terrorists, Fahrizadeh was wounded and taken to the hospital. The resuscitation efforts failed and a few minutes ago he passed away, after many years of investment and effort. It is a cowardly operation."

Iranian parliament speaker Muhammad Bakr Kalibaf threatened: "We will take revenge on the death of Muhsin Fahrizda."

Mohsan was one of the most influential and senior scientists in the field of scientific research on nuclear issues in the country, and was the former head of the nuclear program in Iran.

In addition, he was the only scientist mentioned by Netanyahu in his 2018 speech, in which the prime minister said he continues to play a significant role in the nuclear program. It should be noted that a number of failed attempts to eliminate him have been reported in the past.
