Al-Arabiya correspondent Ziad Halabi published today (Sunday) that according to reports in Iran, the country's intelligence published the photos of four suspects involved in the assassination of nuclear scientist Muhsin Fahrizda, and distributed them in hotels.
Earlier, the Iranian intelligence ministry said its men had uncovered evidence and clues as to the identity of Fahrizadeh's assassins, the Iranian news agency Tassanim reported.
The assassination occurred on Friday in the capital Tehran.
The statement, in which the ministry expressed regret over the assassination of Fahrizadeh and offered its condolences to the family, read: "Our people have been able to obtain evidence and clues as to the identity of the perpetrators of the criminal act. More information will be provided to the noble Iranian people soon."
Meanwhile, the semi-official Iranian news agency "Fares" revealed new details about the assassination, according to which it was carried out using a remote-controlled car, explosives and a machine-gun that were operated remotely.
According to her version, no assassins were present at the scene.
The news agency claimed that although the Iranian senior's vehicle was protected and bulletproof, Fahrizada got out of the vehicle after mistakenly believing it was an accident.
Despite the report in the news agency, which serves as the regime's mouthpiece in Tehran, it is possible that the allegations that no assassin participated in the assassination were intended to protect the dignity of the security guards killed in the incident and not to claim to have been defeated by assassins.
