In order to reduce the extent of possible damage in the future, the municipality now wants to participate in the “special support program against flash floods” offered by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment.
The local council gave its unreserved approval at the meeting on Monday evening.
With the special funding program, the Ministry of the Environment has been supporting municipalities in making provision since 2017.
It enables municipalities to develop tailor-made concepts for the best possible flood protection.
Small communities in particular, for which flash floods can be an existential threat, should be able to position themselves better in this way.
Because the risk of flooding does not only come from small bodies of water, but also from so-called wild flowing water.
This is exactly what caused a lot of damage in Irschenberg this year.
Fire brigade commanders name danger points
In the course of this program, the municipality first started a query with its three fire departments.
While only the Winkel area was mentioned from the Reichersdorf district, Niklasreuth referred to the Alte Gemeindestraße.
The catalog from Irschenberg, which was clearly based on the July deployment list, was much more extensive.
In addition to the districts of Loiderding, Ober- and Niederhasling, Schlachtham and Auerschmied, the Winterweg, the Caritas Children's Village, the TSV facility, the commuter car park and the forest settlement were named.
Defined problem areas
However, according to Michael Fellner from the building authority, it makes no sense to designate the entire community area as a risk zone.
This makes the subsidized studies too expensive in relation to the benefits.
Fellner reckons with 50,000 to 100,000 euros that the community itself will have to raise for the investigation.
It must first be clarified in a dialogue with the Rosenheim Water Management Authority whether Irschenberg is an option for such an investigation or whether the effort is too disproportionate.
The districts of Irschenberg with Waldsiedlung, Oberhasling, Niklasreuth (sewage treatment plant), Reichersdorf (Winkel) and Auerschmied were determined as the areas to be examined.
