Antisemitism in a hotel?

A battle of versions in an affair that excites Germany:

Two weeks have passed since singer Gil Ofarim claimed that he was prevented from getting a room in a well-known hotel because he wore a necklace with a Star of David pendant around his neck.

In a video he uploaded to Instagram, Ofarim (son of the late singer Avi Ofarim) cried that he needed to remove the pendant in order to get a room in a hotel in the city of Leipzig.

The musician Gil Ofarim (punished for bodily injury) has apparently only thought of the whole story of an anti-Semitic outcry over his star of David.

A surveillance video shows that he did not wear these at the hotel at all.

However, the German weekly Bild am Sonntag published today (Sunday) security footage from the incident at a hotel belonging to the "Meridan" chain, which casts great doubt on Ofarim's version.

The latter is seen in the documentation as he enters the hotel and stays at the reception when no pendant is seen on his neck.

The weekly also reported that following information gathered during the investigation, there is also no certainty in the police that the singer's version reflects reality.

Ofarim claimed that he had to wait a long time to receive a room, and when he saw that other guests were getting a room in front of him, he asked the receptionist why he was not receiving treatment.

At this point, according to Ofarim, one of those present in the reception hall told him: "Hide your Star of David," and the receptionist repeated the same statement.

According to the weekly, Ofarim claimed during his interrogation by the police that he did not remember at all whether a necklace remained around his neck that evening.

It should be noted that in the video he uploaded to social networks, Ofarim is seen sitting on the steps of the hotel entrance and showing the necklace with the Star of David.

In response to the latest release, the singer claimed it did not matter if he wore a necklace or not.

"The sentence that was said (regarding the removal of the chain; AB) was said behind me, meaning that someone recognized me," Ofarim claimed.

"The chain is not the issue, but it's a bigger issue - because I're often seen on TV with a Star of David, insulted me."

In a video on Ofarim's Instagram account, which has already received 3.5 million views, 39-year-old Ofarim clearly says that he is discriminated against because he wore a necklace with a Star of David pendant around his neck.

A day after the publication in the German media about the affair, the receptionist, whom Ofarim accused of anti-Semitism, filed a complaint against the singer for libel.

Ofarim was later interviewed by various media outlets in Germany, blaming everyone who was present in the reception hall and did not happen in the incident.
