The General Organization for Drinking Water and Sewerage in Homs Governorate has put the Ain al-Dinanir station in the governorate countryside in service after it was out of service for 8 years due to terrorism, which irrigates five villages with more than seven thousand people with drinking water.
Engineer Ali Khalil, Director of Projects Implementation at the General Organization for Drinking Water and Sewerage in Homs, stated in a statement to SANA that the station was sabotaged due to terrorism, which affected all its contents, including generating sets, pumping stations and tanks, which led to its suspension of work to be rehabilitated again at a cost of more than 500 million Syrian Pounds to irrigate the villages of Ain Al Dinanir, Ain Hussein Al Janoubi, Ain Hussein Al Shamali, Al Yamama and Mazraat Al Thawra.
Khalil pointed out that the station consists of a well with a depth of 1200 meters that pumps water abundantly 45 cubic meters per hour, a pump room that contains 8 pumps, 4 of which are basic and 4 reserves, and two ground tanks with a capacity of 200 cubic meters each, pointing out that an electrical generating transformer is currently being installed with ( 200 kva) to ensure the continuation of pumping water to the beneficiaries in the event of a power outage, indicating that the corporation, during the period of the station’s exit from service, implemented a 5-kilometer ambulance line to draw water from the village of Al-Mushrifa to ensure that the aforementioned villages receive water once every 4 days.
In turn, Eng. Caesar Al-Khader, head of the First Center Economic Unit at the Corporation, explained that the static specifications of the water extracted from the well are initially not ready due to the large depth of the well, which requires technical and engineering treatment to become drinkable, starting with the cooling towers, to reduce their temperature from 46 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius, and then it goes to 4 filters that contain layers of sand and gravel to purify the water from impurities in preparation for its arrival to the underground reservoirs and pumping it through the pumping stations of the beneficiary villages.
For his part, the engineer supervising the project, Rifat Suleiman pointed out that the construction works included the rehabilitation of the ground tanks, cladding them with ceramics, asphalting works on the land of the station and the maintenance of the damaged buildings there, pointing out that the water network has been fully extended in the aforementioned villages since 2006, where work is currently underway and based on experimental pumping Discovery and repair of some interruptions in the network lines feeding the southern and northern villages of Ain Hussein, up to 25 meters.
Haitham Ibrahim and Maher Khouzam, from the village of Ain Al-Dinanir, expressed their happiness for the return of water to the village after several years of deprivation and an end to the suffering of the people in the village and its surroundings due to the purchase of water from passing tanks, which would constitute a great financial burden on them besides the containment of dust and its lack of sterilization .
